Teen pregnancy, abortion, divorce, cutting, drugs, teen drinking, adoption, and suicide may sound like too many themes to cover in one film, but To Save a Life does admirable job of touching on them in a realistic story that happens everyday in America.
Not just public school teens, but also homeschooled teens, and Christian teens from your churche's youth group. Did the film try to cover too much and did it fall into the trap of being another Christian film that suffers from low budget and bad acting? No on both accounts!
The movie starts out with a bang, no pun intended, as a teen takes his own life, and in that moment changes his former best friend's life forever. Sadly, most kids at the high school didn't even know who Roger was and didn't care much. Jake, now the school's star basketball player and a champion at beer pong, can't stop thinking about their life before he ditched Roger. As his own family falls apart around him, Jake starts to ask questions and reaches out to an unlikely person.
I really don't want to give away the story here because I want you to enjoy it as I did, without any preconceived ideas. There is so much to like about this movie, and hopefully the people who need to see it do. I don't mean the hurting people, but the ones who ignore the hurting people around them, and walk on by the Rogers in their class and sitting behind them at church. We need to reach out, and this film does an excellent job of showing how one person really can help save a life.
Buy the DVD and share it with your teens, friends and youth group.

The Ultimate Gift
From Jerry B. Jenkins, author of The Left Behind Series
This inspirational movie is not only heartwarming, but action packed and has surprising moments of humor. Kirk Cameron really gives a very believable performance as a fire captain who is a hero in his community, but facing divorce at home.
